Paizo’s first Pathfinder Tale is a Winner!

Winter WitchWinter Witch by Elaine Cunningham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Okay, if you love twisty, turny plots in your fantasy, Winter Witch is a must read. Elaine Cunningham and Dave Gross have really pitched together to create something new for me; a novel in which I could not say, for certain, whom the primary protagonist is. To that, I say… Bravo!

Without spoilers, I have to say that the characters and plot in this novel carry something that is more than the story. The unbelievable fallibility of unconditional devotion, the inane incongruity of finding love when it is not looked for, and the admission that, just maybe, you were wrong, all play into this wonderful Pathfinder Tale. Paizo has another winner… or rather, this was their first winner, and I’m just catching up.

So, I will qualify this review with the statement that I know Dave Gross personally. But you don’t have to take my word for his skill… just read the dedication that Elane Cunningham wrote for him in the back of the novel… really.
